"We must learn to measure ourselves, not by our knowledge about God, but by how we pray and what goes on in our hearts.”
J.I. Packer

“Prayer is the way to experience a powerful confidence that God is handling our lives well, that our bad things will turn out for good, our good things cannot be taken from us, and the best things are yet to come.”
Tim Keller

Are you looking for ways to incorporate prayer and Scripture more richly into your daily rhythms this year? Here are a few online resources for smartphones and tablets that might help:

Daily Prayer App

This is a beautifully designed and thoughtful app with simplified versions of the daily offices (morning, midday, evening, late evening prayer), including prayers of confession and praise, seasonal prayers(collects), the Lord’s Prayer, a wide range of daily scripture readings and more. Produced by an Anglican church, it’s based on the ACNA Book of Common Prayer 2019 and automatically opens at the current day and office. You can also have the app use notifications to remind you to pray at some or all of the daily office times. This could be a great app for people new to the daily offices or who are looking for a beautiful, simplified version for daily use.

Daily Office 2019

This web app is exactly what it sounds like. It gives you easy access to the full daily office (morning, midday, evening and compline prayer) from the ACNA Book of Common Prayer 2019. It automatically opens at the current day and office and includes all the prayers and readings along with many settings options for different reading cycles. If you want to have the full, traditional daily office from the BCP 2019 at your fingertips this is the app for you.

The Daily Offices Guide from St. Peter’s Fireside

St. Peter’s Fireside in Vancouver, British Columbia has produced a beautiful booklet for guiding people through praying the daily offices. You can download a digital copy or request a print copy be mailed to you.

Prayer Mate

The Prayer Mate app is designed to help organize your daily prayer times. It lets you add whatever types of prayer items you want to be reminded about and then prepares them in an easy to use, swipe-able interface for your daily prayer. It’s a great way to keep track of all the people and things you want to pray for. You can add your contacts and be reminded to pray for a different person each day. You can add feeds from organizations like ANiC's Prayer Calendar with daily prayer requests and daily scripture verses or devotionals. You can even enter in full daily prayers you want to pray verbatim. Then open the app each day and cycle through your prayers, simply swiping to the left to move to the next prayer.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Philippians 4:6

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Colossians 4:2

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
