Cuban Partnerships Update - Summer 2022
For those of you praying with us for our Cuban church partners here is a short update about their situation in Cuba:
Please continue to be in prayer for our Cuban church partners. They report that while covid is less of a concern they continue to lack many of the basics. The recent fire at the Matanzas fuel base has further depleted their limited supply of fuel for the island. According to the Bishop it is not unusual to be without electric power for 16 hours a day. National transportation is paralyzed. There continue to be food shortages and long lines for what is available. While most of the clergy had covid and have now recovered, the latest scourge is denge fever with several of them home sick.
Despite these immense challenges the Holy Spirit continues to work in the hearts and lives of these congregations. One of the clergy in central Cuba reports, “we are very happy with the revival we are experiencing with the adult congregation and with the children. We building an outside shelter because the limited space is slowing down the growth of the church.”
Another of the clergy report, “we are maintaining an average attendance of 40 brothers in our congregation. We continue to pastorally assist the elderly in the nursing home. We recently opened small children's missions in the slums and are providing pastoral care to orphaned children who are without family protection.”
