About Synod

Our annual general synod this year is to be hosted by St. Peter & St. Paul’s in Ottawa on November 2-4, 2022. We are greatly looking forward to the prospect, Lord willing, of gathering in-person for the first time since 2019.
Our Primate, Archbishop Foley Beach, will join us to lead in the installment of Co-Adjutor Bishop Dan Gifford as our next Diocesan Bishop. And we will be celebrating Bishop Charlie Masters’ faithful service as Diocesan as he steps into a different chapter of ministry. We will also have a special day for clergy on Tuesday, wonderful teaching sessions, the Bishop’s Charge, reports and testimonies, meals together, and more.

Some of our Featured Speakers
Archbishop Foley Beach
We are honoured to have our Primate, The Most Reverend Doctor Foley Beach joining us for part of our synod and to install Bishop Dan as our next diocesan bishop. He will also be preaching at that service.
Bishop Charlie Masters
Bishop Charlie will be participating in the Bishop’s Charge along with our newly installed diocesan, Bishop Dan.
Bishop Dan Gifford
As well as being installed as our new diocesan bishop, Bishop Dan will be giving his first Bishop’s Charge and presenting Bible teaching at this year’s synod.
Canon David Short
Canon David, rector of St. John’s Vancouver, will be leading the teaching on our day for clergy which happens on the Tuesday, the day before Synod proper commences.
Rev. Sean Love
Sean is the rector of St. John’s Richmond and, along with Rev. Guy Bellerby, will be teaching at our Wednesday sessions on cultivating lay leadership in our churches.
Rev. Guy Bellerby
Guy is an associate priest at St. John’s Richmond and will be leading along with Rev. Sean Love in our Wednesday session on cultivating lay leadership.
