Participating on the Seminary Working Group

Our Seminary Working Group (SWG) has submitted their report to Bishop Charlie about the possibilities of creating a diocesan seminary. We asked two of the members of the group to share in a few words what their experience has been like serving on the working group.

The Reverend Colton Carrick at Church of the Good Samaritan in St. John’s, Newfoundland shared this:

“What I found so exciting about the Seminary Working Group was its Gospel focus. All of its work was fuelled by a deep desire to see successive generations of Gospel-ministers trained up for Gospel-ministry in a Gospel-desperate context. The prayer was, and continues to be, that by producing high-quality ministers a diocesan seminary would be able to bless our diocese, our parishes, our country, and our world with the unique and precious gift of Christ’s Gospel.”

Deacon Jane Manary Parent at St. Luke’s in Pembroke, Ontario to shared this with us:

“‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I carried you on eagles' wings…’ (Exodus 18:4)  We have! God has kept going before us, bringing about opportunities and giving us such unity in this Working Group that we have all been amazed. Committee work has actually been a joy! There's a shared passion to see the grace and truth that we have experienced in our Lord and in ANiC passed on to and through a new generation--and it seems that heart is God's own.”

As we look forward to hearing the results of their report in the days ahead you can learn more about the group and their mandate here: www.anglicannetwork.ca/swg
